Does adding copper, coal, silver, etc. to the critical minerals list really enhance US’s self – sufficiency in critical minerals supply? Considering China is a major supplier, won’t this move disrupt the existing global supply chain of these minerals? Also, given that the 232 – clause investigation may lead to tariffs and trade restrictions, won’t it backfire on the US economy, which still needs to import these minerals to some extent?
